New year; new skills?

By Amanda Allman, sports coach UK Development Lead Officer

Around one in five Brits will make a New Year’s resolution to exercise and improve their fitness; and an estimated 6 million people will resolve to learn a new skill for personal development or hobby.

So to help people in your region keep their New Year’s resolution in 2015 we have developed two practical-based workshops (How to Deliver Engaging Sessions) that hone these skills and provide new tools to create informal and fun sessions which build connections and allow participants to develop with confidence and make consistent progress.

Watch this clip to see how Laura has applied her new skills and improved the attendance and retention to her sessions.  To run one of these sports coach UK workshops for your coaches, use the Workshop Finder to see if one is running near you, or contact us directly.

Together we can help your coaches build the right skills and tools to encourage newcomers to come back week after week. We know that eight out of ten adults who receive coaching believe it improves their enjoyment of sport. What a responsibility and great opportunity!

We have lots of options for your coaches to start to build up these skills: read about “The Impact of Coaching on Participation”; delve into segment specific information here; and use our resource to encourage self-reflection on techniques utilised.
