More Medals for Inspire Coaches

Inspire Coach-Development Programme coaches David Campion, Laurel Bailey, Sinclair Bruce and Kevin Gill saw their athletes win medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

James Willstrop, coached by Campion, won silver in a thrilling match against Yorkshire squash rival Nick Matthew. Swimmer Dan Wallace, coached by Bailey, won Gold in the 400m Individual Medley and silver in the 200m Individual Medley. Bruce saw Jennifer McIntosh claimed silver in the 50m rifle three positions and bronze in the 50m rifle prone, while Gill’s athlete Charlotte Kerwood took Gold in the Women’s Double Trap shooting, and Aaron Heading won silver in the Men's Trap.

Earlier in the Games judo Coach Ciaran Ward's athlete Lisa Kearny won with bronze in the women's 52kg category and, also in judo, Jamie Johnson's athletes Nekoda Davis and Jemima Yeats-Brown stood on the podium with gold in the 57kg and bronze in the 63kg category respectively.

sports coach UK, supported by the Home Country Sports Councils, managed the Inspire Programme. The Programme was developed for coaches who had athletes with the potential to medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Funding for the Programme was provided by UK Sport.
