Schedule confirmed for the first UK Coaching Applied Coaching Research Conference

Tickets are now available for ‘Shaping the Future of Coaching’, the first Applied Coaching Research Conference delivered by UK Coaching that takes place at the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester on 27 February 2018.

The conference is for anyone involved, or interested, in research: system managers and policy makers; coaches and coach developers; students, researchers and academics.

The full schedule for the event has now been confirmed.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Professor Joan Duda, University of Birmingham
  • Professor Ben Jones, Leeds Beckett University and Research and Innovation Manager, Rugby Football League (RFL)
  • Clare McGregor, Founder and Managing Director, Coaching Inside and Out (CIAO).

The action-packed day will also include workshops and sessions to help delegates with the application of research, understanding its impact and exploring the latest research developments. Sessions include:

Pop up University: How to Design Surveys People Want to Take – Delivered by Alex Wheatley of Lightspeed, this session explores how to get good data by knowing how to ask good questions enabling delegates to create surveys that people enjoy, trust and ultimately give meaningful answers to.

Workshop:  Developing Creative Learning Environments – Delivered by Dr. Alex Twitchen of the Open University this workshop this workshop will present the findings from a study involving developing football coaches illustrating the example of a randomly assigned constraints based learning activity and give attendees the opportunity to design their own practice on similar principles.
