Inspiring Positive Behaviour in Sport
Give your coaches the skills and confidence to inspire better behaviour
There will always be times when the behaviour of participants makes demands on your coaches, and this can have a negative impact on their coaching sessions.
The ‘Inspiring Positive Behaviour in Sport’ module helps coaches to:
- understand why unwanted behaviour occurs
- develop skills to manage unwanted behaviour
- think about what they deem acceptable behaviour from participants.
The online module will equip your coaches with vital knowledge needed to enjoy their sessions, even when confronted with challenging behaviour from participants.
Duration: Approximately 30 minutes
Audience: UKCC Level 1 and 2 coaches, activators, leaders and College Sport Makers
For coaches who have not undertaken any recent training, this course would be useful as part of their ongoing CPD. For those coaches working at a higher level, it may be useful as a refresher about managing behaviour. In particular, it would be beneficial for a level one coach to complete if they are having to deal with some of the specific areas highlighted within the course.
How will your coaches benefit?
A vibrant mix of video, real-life scenarios that will resonate with your coaches, case studies, opportunities for self-reflection and supportive feedback will help your coaches grow in confidence about:
- measures they can take to promote positive behaviour
- handling difficult situations
- ensuring a more rewarding experience for everyone involved.
What’s more, they’ll be able to print out all the notes they make on the course, to support them in their future coaching.
Plus, they will be able to print out a certificate confirming they have completed the course.
Assessment criteria mapping
This course has been developed to align to the units of common content for level 2 coaches. It aligns to the assessment criteria relating to participant behaviour within a formal coach education qualification.
The learning also aligns to the level two assessment criteria in relation to what a coach needs to know about behaviour management at this level and supports them to be able to answer the relevant assessment questions as part of their level two assessment. This could be as part of a principles of coaching, part of a wider UKCC learning programme or simply as a CPD opportunity for coaches.
The course is generic with no reference to specific sports the module itself does not contain any assessment, this can be completed as part of the ongoing online or hard copy coach portfolio.
