Includes three modules:
- Safeguarding Refresher
- Positive Sports Parent
- Safe Communication with Digital Kids
Developed in partnership with:
Developed in partnership with the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), the ‘Renewal: Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport’ online course enables club volunteers to refresh, consolidate and update their understanding of safeguarding at a time to suit them. An alternative to attending a face-to-face workshop, this fantastic course can be completed at home – on a tablet or PC – so learners can dip in and out to suit their lifestyle, while keeping track of their progress*.
Duration: Approximately one hour, 30 minutes
Audience: This eLearning is only suitable as a refresher course for learners who are 18 years of age or over and have already attended the ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’ (SPC1) workshop. It is not suitable for individuals who have no previous safeguarding training or are under 18.
How will your learners benefit?
A vibrant mix of video, challenging scenarios, case studies, quizzes and supportive feedback, it helps learners:
- refresh their knowledge of current legislation and good practice
- build confidence in recognising children’s welfare issues
- decide on the appropriate action to protect a child.
What’s more, the eLearning includes two informative modules that give learners the chance to look at important areas of safeguarding they might not have great awareness/experience of:
1 Positive Sports Parent
Includes guidance for parents and coaches
This module helps your learners handle parents whose behaviour may impact negatively on everyone involved in their sessions. By the end, learners will have the knowledge and confidence to empower parents to contribute positively to enjoyable sporting experiences for all.
2 Safe Communication with Digital Kids
Increase your learners’ confidence when it comes to communicating with children about sporting activities. They will learn ways to help keep children safe and protect themselves online, with information on:
- the risks and benefits of using social media
- how to use social media responsibly
- online grooming and entrapment
- online bullying
- online racism.
What’s more, within all aspects of the eLearning, they will be directed to further resources and templates they can use to support them in the future, such as the latest guidance and policy templates on a range of safeguarding topics from the CPSU.
Plus, they will be able to print out a certificate confirming they have completed the course.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to keep ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’ training up to date every three years that is both convenient and easy to access. The new modules give coaches and others renewing their training access to important information on new topics in safeguarding and protecting children".
Anne Tiivas, Director of the Child Protection in Sport Unit
