Working in Partnership with The Football League Trust
Bespoke workshop programme
The Football League Trust’s role is to oversee community and youth development activities at Football League clubs; to support the work of the clubs; and to help them develop.
The Football League Trust wanted to better equip its coaches who were working within the community, especially those who were going into schools, to be able to run multi-skill sessions.
The Football League Trust wanted its coaches to learn skills and techniques that weren’t specific to football. As a result, UK Coaching developed a bespoke course that included content from several of its existing workshops, including:
- ‘An Introduction to Long-term Athlete Development’
- ‘An Introduction to the FUNdamentals of Movement’
- ‘FUNdamentals of Agility’
- ‘FUNdamentals of Balance’
- ‘FUNdamentals of Coordination’
They found the course itself was easy to organise; all they had to do was simply arrange the venue and book the tutor.
The Trust offered this as a bespoke six-hour course and had around 100 attendees over several courses. The programme offered a basic introduction, suitable for all levels of The Trust’s coaches. It encouraged coaches to think about different and more efficient ways they could coach participants to move, and how they could apply those skills across a range of movements and sports. The Trust had such positive feedback from the attendees about the course that they expanded it across the region, so more coaches were able to attend.
‘We would recommend this course to other organisations as it provides a good grounding in multi-skill coaching.’
