Coaching in the UK

Coach Clean Launched

UK Anti-Doping has launched an innovative online resource called Coach Clean that gives coaches essential information on their roles and responsibilities in relation to anti-doping.

The e-learning module, unveiled at the 2011 UK Coaching Summit, has been developed in light of research that showed the positive influence of coaches on today’s youth[1].

Developed in partnership with sports coach UK, Coach Clean has been designed for UKCC level-2 coaching qualifications and covers:

  • doping-free sport
  • the role of WADA and UK Anti-Doping
  • good practice
  • testing procedures
  • the health, social and physical consequences of doping

UK Anti-Doping Chief Executive Andy Parkinson said: “Coach Clean represents an exciting move in UK Anti-Doping’s prevention strategy. It is vital that we reach support personnel so that they can in turn influence athletes and promote the values of clean sport.  Only through partners’ cooperation can we achieve our goals and this new resource is a reflection of the excellent partnership we now have with sports coach UK.”

sports coach UK CEO Tony Byrne said: “Coach Clean is a great example of partnership working and sports coach UK is proud to have been involved in developing a resource that will benefit both coaches and participants.”
