Positive mental-health in the coaching that I do. I want to inspire every single person to try different things and find the one thing that makes you happy. Keep trying until you find that activity and reach your full potential.

Zumba coach, Charmaine Daley

Over nine million adults in the UK have received coaching over the past 12 months with a broad range of benefits delivered to recipients.

Coaching Week is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the people who coach.

How You Can Get Involved

If you're coached:

Celebrate Great Coaching by telling us your stories of how coaching has helped you in sport, physical activity and beyond by using the #GreatCoaching hashtag via your own social media channels.

Recognise your own coach who lives and breathes great coaching by presenting them with a #GreatCoaching certificate.

If you're coaching:

Celebrate Great Coaching by sharing your own coaching stories using the #GreatCoaching hashtag via your own social media channels.

If you're a partner organisation:

Celebrate Great Coaching by sharing great coaching content. There's a Partner toolkit  to get you started but we want you to generate your own materials too. Find out more about the toolkit and sharing content by contacting our Communications Team.

If you're not currently involved in coaching but would like to know more:

Enjoy the content we'll be sharing alongside partners throughout Coaching Week and find out more about the many benefits of coaching by following #GreatCoaching.

Remember to recognise your coach for practising our Principles of Great Coaching by presenting them with a #GreatCoaching certificate.

Don't forget to tag a photo of your coach with their certificate across your social channels using the #GreatCoaching hashtag.

THe 'PEOPLE' Principles of Great Coaching

As part of Coaching Week, we've launched our Principles of Great Coaching, which are centred on the acronym PEOPLE.

They are designed to help you understand what great coaching looks like.

They are:

Person-centred

Great coaching makes me feel valued and better for being involved. My coach knows and understands me. I am included in the session.

Empowering

Great coaching makes me feel a sense of belonging. I’m asked what I think about the session, my feedback counts and I leave feeling motivated, inspired to learn and develop myself further.

Organised

Great coaching means I am safe. When I ask, it’s logical as to why we are doing things in the session to meet my goals. My coach is well prepared, instructions are clear and I know what the outcomes will be.

Positive

Great coaching makes me feel excited, inspired and glad I came along. My coach is with me every step of the way. Conversations are motivating, and feedback is helpful. I’m praised for the efforts I make in an environment where I thrive and flourish.

Learning

Great coaching means that my coach understands me, and wants to help me get better. I feel confident that I am progressing and achieving my goals. I learn something new every time.

Engaging

Great coaching means I feel involved and motivated. The sessions are creative, and get the best out of me. My coach adapts to meet my needs. I can’t wait to come back.

Great Coaching is about PEOPLE

We're inviting people across the UK to share when and where they have experienced great coaching, and to recognise their own coach for practising UK Coaching’s Principles of Great Coaching by presenting them with a #GreatCoaching certificate.
