Gillian Wilmot, Chair of the Board of Trustees

Having overseen a major transformation from Sports Coach UK in 2015 to UK Coaching, the Board of UK Coaching announces that Gillian Wilmot, Chair of the Board, has decided not to serve a further term as the organisation enters a new phase of development.

Gillian will assist the Board in the search for a new Chair and hand over to that individual by the end of June 2019.

Gillian Wilmot said:

Having completed the major part of the transformation from Sports Coach UK to UK Coaching, which included meeting the governance requirements for the New Code for Sports Governance, recruiting a completely new board and executive team and repositioning the organisation in the sector, I have decided that now is the right time for me to step aside and focus on commercial Chairmanships, Chairing Senet, public speaking, Mentoring and on completing my book. I am delighted we have a truly diverse and highly skilled Board and executive team to take UK Coaching forward.

The organisation has seen a major turnaround since December 2015 and is now in a significantly stronger position with clarity of purpose. Our role is to help improve the lives of those who take part in sport and physical activity by working with coaches and coaching organisations to deliver great experiences through great coaching and ultimately encourage a more active nation.

The Board is enormously grateful for the role that Gillian has played in the transformation of UK Coaching and positioning us to be able to meet the needs of coaches and coaching in the future. Gillian has brought an excellent mix of extensive experience, insight and dedication to help bring about significant changes in the organisation, and there is no doubt her passion and drive to transform lives through great coaching will be missed.

Mark Gannon, CEO of UK Coaching, said:

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Gillian for leading UK Coaching through a very challenging period and, in particular, her tremendous work in overseeing its strategic transformation.
