Nominations for prestigious UK Coaching Awards now open

Nominations for the 21st UK Coaching Awards are now open

Hosted by UK Coaching, the showpiece annual event is seen as one of the most prestigious by the coaching community and will be held at The HAC, City of London on Thursday 29 November.

The principle of the Awards is to recognise and reward great coaching at all levels across sport and activity, from community to high performance.

There are two new award categories for 2018: Great Coaching Moment of the Year and Transforming Coaching through Technology.

The first new gong celebrates a particular moment in time when a coach’s support and guidance really paid off. Any moment from 2018 can be nominated, whether it’s the school football team celebrating their first league win with their P.E. Teacher; a coach cheering pool side as their swimmer finishes their first 50m race; or the England coach celebrating their netball team’s victory at the Commonwealth Games.

The second is for an individual or team who has developed innovative technology, or who has made great use of technology, to enhance coach learning or practice, or to improve the experience or performance of participants or coaches.

Nominate great coaching for the UK Coaching Awards.

Lastly, one of the awards in the Support of Coaches category has received a makeover. Its new look name – Coaching for an Active Life – reflects UK Coaching’s vision of an active nation inspired through great coaching.

UK Coaching’s Director of Coaching Emma Atkins, said:

We are really excited to open the nominations for this year’s Coaching Awards.

“Across the UK, great coaching goes on day-in-day-out and earlier this year we saw a snap-shot of the magnitude of the coaching workforce through our awareness campaign, Coaching Week. Thank you to everyone who got behind the campaign and let’s continue to celebrate great coaching by nominating a coach who has made a difference to the lives of others.  There is a range of categories celebrating the breadth of impact, coaching has and whatever your link to coaching please take some time to nominate your great coach.

“Let’s get together and embrace the power and value of coaching and the committed individuals who coach. Remember coaching is about people; people transforming the lives of others.”

Overall, there are 13 award categories, nine for coaches, three in support of coaches and the Great Coaching Moment of the Year.
