The UK Coaching Conference is heading to Scotland

The inaugural UK Coaching Conference will take place at Oriam, Scotland’s High performance Centre in Edinburgh from Tuesday 26 – Wednesday 27 June.

With a theme of ‘Coaching: The Next Generation’, the event will bring coaching practitioners, the coaching system manager workforce and policy and senior decision makers together to network, learn, share and develop.

By attending the event delegates can benefit from five key outcomes guaranteed to boost learning and embed into daily practise whatever their role in the UK’s coaching family:

  • How coaching can develop positive attitudes to physical activity.
  • How coaching in sport is a vehicle to develop confidence in young people.
  • How coaching in sport can support young people to achieve positive outcomes.
  • How coaching in sport enables social and community development.
  • How to recognise great coaching and how to develop the right behaviours, knowledge, skills and experience.

The conference also provides information, best practice and invaluable networking covering topics including:

  • How to progress in Coaching as a career
  • How to involve young people into coaching roles
  • Understanding the growing child (physical development)
  • Prioritising the welfare, well-being and motivations of people we are coaching.

The UK Coaching Conference has been designed with a learner journey to suit all delegate needs and attendees will benefit from a team of conference coaches dedicated to helping them get the most out of the event.

Commenting on the launch of the event, Emma Atkins, UK Coaching’s Director of Coaching, said:

“I am extremely excited to see tickets launched for the first ever UK Coaching Conference. Alongside hosts sportscotland, it is fantastic to be focussing on coaching the next generation in 2018 as Scotland celebrates its own Year of Young People.

“We have ensured we have listened to young people in Scotland to develop this event, so that those who attend can improve their support to young people whether through coaching them or by supporting young people to become part of our coaching workforce.

“A huge thank you must go to the young people and other home nation sports council representatives who have been busy preparing a schedule that will add real value to all who attend.

“The event puts delegates at the heart of the schedule as we understand that no learner is the same. We have ensured engaging content for those who want a busy conference schedule and opportunities to network and share for those who prefer a more informal approach.

“I urge the whole Coaching family to join us in Edinburgh and discover new learning to put into practice in their coaching or system roles.”
