The principle of the Awards is to recognise and reward great coaching at all levels across sport and activity, from community to high performance.
There are two new award categories for 2018: Great Coaching Moment of the Year and Transforming Coaching through Technology.
The first new gong celebrates a particular moment in time when a coach’s support and guidance really paid off. Any moment from 2018 can be nominated, whether it’s a coach cheering pool side as their swimmer finishes their first 50m race; or the England coach celebrating their netball team’s victory at the Commonwealth Games.
The second is for an individual or team who has developed innovative technology, or who has made great use of technology, to enhance coach learning or practice, or to improve the experience or performance of participants or coaches.
Returning categories include, for coaching:
- Children’s Coach of the Year
- Community Coach of the Year
- Talent Development Coach of the Year

- Heather Crouch Young Coach of the Year
- Disability Coach of the Year
