UK Coaching and Sport Structures working together for coaches

The lead agency for coaching in the UK, and one of the sector's largest training providers, Sport Structures, are collaborating to enhance digital learning and development for coaches and workforce officers in the sport and physical activity sector.

As the sector reels from the COVID-19 pandemic, both organisations have decided to work together to ensure better support for everyone who plays such a vital role in keeping the nation active.

UK Coaching and Sport Structures will be providing end-to-end learning and development support for aspiring and existing coaches, coach developers and managers to recover and reinvent, and provide great coaching support across England.

With growing concerns about the long-term health of young people in particular, the collaboration will also focus on equipping coaches, more than ever before, with the skills to support individuals to cultivate a lifelong love for physical activity.

UK Coaching's Director of Coaching, Emma Atkins, said:

“Recognising and building on the strengths of both organisations, with our huge bank of resources and expertise in coaching system design and Sport Structures' experience of delivering coach education, apprenticeships and education for tutors and assessors, will enable a range of digital and face-to-face services to be developed, enhanced and delivered.”

Sport Structures' Managing Director Kath Robinson, said:

“We have worked with UK Coaching for many years and we share values and approaches to develop coaches through high quality delivery. We feel that by working together, coaches, along with the professional workforce who support coaches, can only benefit."

UK Coaching and Sport Structures' announcement comes after Sport England called on the sector to ramp up momentum and tackle and prevent inequalities in sport and physical activity as part of its 10-year Uniting the Movement strategy.
