UK Coaching Appoints Six Nations Chief Financial Officer to Board of Directors

UK Coaching is delighted to announce the appointment of Ed Hepworth – Chief Financial Officer of Six Nations Rugby – to its Board of Directors with effect from January 2023

As part of his non-executive director role, Ed will also Chair UK Coaching’s Finance Audit and Risk Committee.

With an extensive background in sport and senior leadership, Ed is Chair of the Active Communities Network; a Sport for Development charity that uses sport as a pathway into education, training and employment.

Ed worked for the National Basketball Association (NBA) in various senior roles between 2009 and 2017, and with other major brands throughout his career including Sainsbury’s, Reuters, PwC and British Airways.

Announcing the appointment, Atholl Duncan, Chair of UK Coaching, said:

"We are delighted to appoint Ed to our Board of Directors. His experience as a senior finance and strategy leader, combined with his passion for the positive impact that sport can have on people’s lives, will be of great value to our efforts to continue the transformation of UK Coaching."

Ed, reflecting on his appointment, said:

I look forward to joining the team at UK Coaching. I want to help continue their great work and impact what they do at the grassroots to the elite level across the sporting landscape."

Atholl added: “ Ed joins the team at UK Coaching when we are challenging ourselves to play a more significant role in helping out communities during these difficult times. Right now, the cost of living crisis is widening the opportunity gap. This highlights an urgent need to do much more to tackle the inequalities that exist in coaching and right across our world of sport and physical activity. We believe that coaches can be the catalysts in turning exclusion into inclusion and changing people’s lives.

“That's why at UK Coaching we exist to assist, we represent and empower coaches at all levels to make a difference to the people they coach.”
