ELEVATE Programme

The Elevate Programme is designed specifically for female coaches aspiring to progress within their sport performance pathway to help them extend their role, profile and impact.

Overview and Outcomes

 

Recognising the challenges of the shortage of women in coaching at the performance level, the ELEVATE Coach Development Programme aims to support female coaches to gain clarity and confidence to commit to their ongoing personal and professional development needed to advance along their sport performance pathway.

The purpose of the course is to:

  • Provide opportunities for female coaches to connect and build their network of support
  • Create opportunities to share experiences and challenge thinking
  • Develop knowledge, skills, and coaching behaviours for coaching in a performance pathway environment.

As part of the ELEVATE programme, coaches will:

  • Develop a plan to progress their career and strategies to fulfil their potential 
  • Grow confidence in their coaching and leadership style 
  • Develop reflective practice 
  • Increase coaching knowledge and skills that has personal relevance and impact
  • Grow their network of support.

Who is it for?

 

The programme is aimed at female coaches who are:

  • Working in UK Sport funded sports
  • Coaching at a regional or national level with athletes in the Talent and/or Performance stage of the athlete pathway (14-21 years age range)
  • Committed to their own development and able to engage with the learning opportunities throughout the entirety of the programme
  • Coaching on a regular basis.

When will the programme take place?

 

ELEVATE will run from September 2023 – January 2024 lasting 5 months.

How will it be delivered?

 

Delivered between September 2023 and January 2024, this 5-month programme will start and end with in-person workshops. 

Across the programme, coaches will access:

  • On-demand learning resources
  • One online workshop
  • Two virtual group sessions with a mentor
  • An immersive experience in a high-performance sport setting to observe and explore with a coach developer

Key dates:

  • Workshop 1: 14 September 2023 10:00-16:00 (in person / Midlands - venue TBC)
  • Workshop 2: 7 November 2023 12:00-14:00 (online)
  • Workshop 3: 18 January 2024 10:00-16:00 (in person / Midlands - venue TBC)
  • Action Learning Sets: October and November (dates TBC)
  • Coach Developer Day: W/C 13 November (date TBC)
