An Introduction to Supporting People (Online Classroom)

This two-part online classroom has been developed for anyone who wants to support coaches, at any levels of coaching, in any environment. You will be provided with the skills and training needed, via on-course support and accompanying resources, to enable you to better support coaches

Our insight shows that in 2019 there were an estimated 900,000 people supporting coaches in coach developer, mentor, educator, or quality assessment role.

We also understand that many of those who are supporting coaches would like to have more support and training themselves, to enable them to be more confident and skilful.

This online classroom is spread over 2 x two-hour sessions, with an interval of around 10-14 days between sessions to allow for learner reflection, mentoring activities and exploring the supporting content and information. Supporting content will comprise of a selection of bite-size videos, podcast sand short articles.

Session One will:

  • explore what supporting coaches is (and is not)
  • help you to understand the different support role
  • explore some of the knowledge, behaviours and skills required to support coaches
  • introduce some practical tools to use to get started

Session Two will:

  • introduce reflective practice
  • practice sharing, questioning, listening, reflective discussions
  • help you to understand your environment and relationships
  • introduce some practical tools to use

Upon registering for this series, each learner will be provided with access to a series of digital resources. This will comprise of videos, podcasts and articles to introduce basic concepts covered in the sessions, prompt reflection and encourage practice. The resources will be listed on the learner’s personal learner dashboard.

Learners can access the online classroom through your mobile phone, tablet, PC or laptop. For the best experience, we recommend using a desktop PC.

They will need the following equipment:

  • Headset or a device with speakers
  • Device with a microphone
  • Ability to connect directly into your router (wifi access may drop out).

More information will be provided when they register.

Each facilitated online session is spread over 2 x two-hour sessions, with an interval of around 10-14 days between sessions to allow for learner reflection, mentoring activities and exploring the supporting content and information.

You are part of a small group so you will have a chance to discuss points and ask questions – as if you are in a face to face workshop, only you get to sit in your own chair and drink a real cuppa in your own mug and not something brown from a vending machine!
