Influencing Behaviour Change

On this workshop/online classroom, develop useful strategies to support people to get active and innovative nudge techniques to empower them to stay active.
Overview
Behaviour change happens when a series of small steps is taken over time. It's a journey, and the goal of that journey may be to replace unhealthy patterns of behaviour with healthier habits that will support your participants' needs and aspirations.
Our face-to-face workshop / online classroom will help you to improve your understanding of behaviour change tactics. You'll learn about practical strategies that can encourage people to develop healthier habits, and consider how they can be applied in your environment, with your participants.
By the end of this course, you will gain:
- the knowledge and skills to positively influence your participants
- the confidence to support and empower them to make changes that, for a range of reasons, they haven't previously been able to implement.
By understanding the tools and and tactics that can bring about behaviour change, you can adapt your coaching practice to use them effectively to provide the appropriate motivation and support for the people that you coach.
With you on their side and equipped to help, they will be much more likely to be able to make positive, tangible changes to their lives and build sustainable active habits.
You will learn about:
- intrinsic motivation and self-determination theory
- setting intrinsic/behavioural goals
- influencing people
- nudge techniques.
You will be presented with the following challenge to grapple with as you explore those topics and develop your knowledge of behaviour change tactics.
How can I support and influence participants to live more active lives?
Focusing on this question will help to not only consider how to apply what you've learned, but also to consider how you can be creative in supporting the people that you coach, based on your in-depth knowledge of who they are as people.
Upon registering for this workshop, you will be provided with access to a set of digital resources. They will be listed on your personal learner dashboard.
Information for Learners
Attending the online classroom
Although you can access our Online Classroom using any mobile device, using a laptop or PC will give you the best experience.
Once booked, the link to your Online Classroom will be provided via a confirmation email from UK Coaching.
You will need the following equipment:
- Headset or a device with speakers.
- Device with a microphone.
- The ability to connect directly into your router (WiFi access may drop out).
Find a course date that works for you and book on.
We will be in touch to:
- Confirm your booking.
- Send you a link to your session.
- Tell you your certificate is ready to view on your dashboard (after your session).
This Online Classroom lasts for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
You are part of a small group so you will have a chance to discuss points and ask questions – as if you are in a face-to-face workshop, only you get to sit in your own chair and drink a real cuppa in your own mug!

Delivering the workshop
If you have more than 6 people to train, we’ll come to you.
Tell us your preferred date and time via our booking form and we will arrange for one of our tutors to deliver your session. We will help market the event too if you want us to. All we need is the weblink to your own booking page and your session will appear on our workshop course listing page.

This workshop lasts for two hours and 30 minutes and will be delivered by an accredited and experienced UK Coaching tutor.
A classroom space big enough to house your learners comfortably with room to work in groups and move around freely will be required.
This course requires learners to share thoughts and ideas in a group, so ideally a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 20 people should attend each session.
An interactive workshop that is facilitated by a UK Coaching tutor. Between each session, we advise a gap of up to two weeks. This will allow each learner to put into practice the knowledge they gain after their first session and try out some new tactics.
During each session, the learner will be involved in real-time activities and discussions.
Please contact our customer services team in advance or make the tutor aware of any additional learning requirements any of your learners may have, in order for our tutor be fully prepared in their support.
After we have received your booking form we will do the work for you!
We will:
- confirm a UK Coaching tutor to deliver the sessions
- send you and your learners’ confirmation of the sessions, including all logistical information provided by you at point of booking
- send your learners a reminder email, with full venue details, within 24 hours of each session
- provide your learners with access to the accompanying learning materials , housed in their UK Coaching Learner dashboard
- email your learners their certificates after the event
- provide you with anonymous learner feedback.
Here are the things you will need to do to ensure your learners have an enjoyable experience:
| BOOK A SPACE | A meeting with enough space for the group to split into smaller groups (at least 12 x 12 metres). All venues must be accessible for all participants, including those who may have additional needs (e.g. wheelchair users). As our tutor delivery uses slide and may include use of video, it's important that WiFi is available. Please supply the login and password details to the tutor. To ensure that the venue for hosting the training course / workshop is suitable in all respects, please ensure a risk assessment is carried out. |
| SEND US YOUR LIST OF DELEGATES (At least 5 working daysprior to the first session) | e will use this information to set up your learners with access to their resources and email the session confirmation to you and them. Please ensure your privacy statement covers this transaction. |
| ARRANGE ANY RELEVANT EQUIPMENT | Screen or laptop and data projector, flip chart, paper and pens are required. Internet access is required. Please contact our Customer Care Team if this is not available. |
| SUPPORT YOUR LEARNERS | During the event, you should be present to meet and support the tutor and provide any additional signposting advice to your learners. |

Delivering the online classroom
Our Online Classroom works well with up to 15 learners.
Tell us your preferred date and time and we will arrange of one of our tutors to deliver the session via booking form.

You may be eligible to deliver this title under license. See the "Deliver this online classroom under licence" tab below for more information.
This Online Classroom lasts for 2 hours and 30 minutes and is delivered by an accredited and experienced UK Coaching tutor.
The learner will need strong internet access (ideally directly through their router) plus a PC/laptop (ideally, but they can also access this using a tablet or phone), with a working speaker and microphone.
There is a maximum of 15 learners per session. Any more than this and the quality of learning will be affected.
There is no official minimum number, however fewer than 4 people may impact the discussions and activities undertaken.
Influencing Behaviour Change is an interactive Online Classroom that is facilitated by a tutor.
The learner will be involved in real-time activities and discussions, and live captioning/subtitles are available for learners with any auditory support requirements.
