Understanding the Role of the Coach in Nutrition

Developed in partnership with Registered Dietician and Performance Nutritionist Sarah Chantler, this infographic contains Sarah’s key insight into how a coach can support their athletes with their nutrition and practical steps to guide the development of ‘food literacy’

It starts with ‘food literacy’, building an athlete’s confidence with food rather than pressuring them to make ‘perfect’ choices. Central to this approach is being comfortable around food, trying new things, and understanding that there is no such thing as a ‘bad’ food, simply a poor choice.  Too much of anything isn’t good for you, right?

Developing your athletes holistically is crucial, and considering nutrition is all part of the inter-disciplinary thinking approach to developing your athletes.

Whilst this can be challenging for coaches, these five tips can help you to develop your coaching practice and support your athletes to improve their food literacy.
