UK Coaching have defined six Principles of Great Coaching, which outline what people expressed a great coaching experience to feel like. The Principles of Great Coaching are: person-centred; empowering; organised; positive; learning; engaging.
Exploring each principle further, we were able to identify Coaching Behaviours that people recognise in the coach when reporting a great coaching experience. There are four behaviours connected to each principle (24 behaviours in total) which aim to provide guidance for coaches in moving toward providing great coaching experiences.
The cards bring together the Principles of Great Coaching, Coaching Behaviours, and a number of Coaching Tips. They are designed to be used as a learning resource to support coaches to explore and reflect on their coaching practice, and can equally be used by the coach development workforce to support their work in creating a great coaching workforce.
