Calibrating Perception and Action: Growth, Injury and Ageing

A summary of the key elements of calibrating perception and action in skill development, with Dr James Stafford

The focus of my work as business development lead at INCISIV – which develops virtual reality training tools for elite athletes – is on ageing and decision-making and, in particular, how the ability to decide when and how to move changes at different timescales and through different periods of development. 

In this article, I will include some practical examples of how coaches can support and develop changes in calibration through periods of change, such as growth during adolescence, injury recovery, ageing and returning to sport after having time off – including coming back into training after Covid.
