A chicken and egg question for you. What comes first, competence or confidence?
Now, don’t jump too quickly to answer. I suspect you want to. I suspect you want to say competence:
“It has to be competence. By developing skill an athlete can build their confidence.”
But, like many things in life, perhaps the truth lies more in the ‘grey’ than in the ‘black and white’.
For me, competence drives confidence and confidence drives competence.
