Applying the Model of Resilience in your Practice

UK Coaching Learning Experience Manager Chris Chapman shares an applied case study of the ‘Anticipate, Minimise, Manage, Mend’ approach to developing resilience

A professional football Academy in England created a model of Pressure Training within their environment which explicitly developed the skills and behaviours that the players needed to be successful and progress in the sport.  

Central to the club’s approach was the development of robust players, physically and psychologically. The explanation of how they developed psychological resilience is explained below.

Using the pyramid model below they were able to develop resilience across their academy programme and integrate this into each player’s individual development plans.
