Coaching Esports: The Importance of Interdisciplinary Team Support

In a sports team, there are many different factors that interact with each other and ultimately impact people, relationships, and performance. Every team is unique, every group of players, staff and opponent is different, and getting everything to tick at the right time is the appeal of competition. 

This complexity means that, as with any challenging scenario involving team sports, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to supporting your team and decisions must be based on knowledge, experience, and personal judgement. This is where the value of an interdisciplinary team (IDT) really comes into its own.  

As in conventional sport, the same is true in the world of esports. Whilst a relatively new addition to the professional sporting landscape, the popularity of esports has grown exponentially and as such the number of players joining organised teams has too.
