You might be wondering how an athlete obtains permission to use a medication if it contains a prohibited substance. Laurie Patterson gives you the inside scoop on Therapeutic Use Exemptions – or ‘TUEs’

An athlete may have an illness or long-term medical condition that requires them to take medicine that may contain a prohibited substance. A TUE is an exemption that allows an athlete to use, for therapeutic purposes only (medical), an otherwise prohibited substance or method (of administering a substance).
