At Home with the Cranes

Mason Crane burst onto the international cricket scene with a bang in the summer of 2017, making his T20 International debut at The Ageas Bowl against the touring South Africans.

Taking 1 for 38 from his allotted overs, including the prized scalp of AB De Villiers, the 20-year old marked his arrival in style. And in September, he was named in England's Test squad for the 2017–18 Ashes series.

Crane has come through a coaching system that includes Lancing School, Hampshire age-groups and Academy, and the England Development Programme. But embedded in this story of a rising star, are Nick and Alison Crane, Mason’s parents.

In this podcast, we speak to Nick and Alison about the trials and tribulations of being ‘high performance parents’, unpicking some of their journey, and their interactions with the coaches that have supported Mason’s evolution. We even managed to grab five minutes with Mason himself.
