Attempts to change a behaviour should be seen as taking a journey towards a new behaviour. Not all the stages are easy to negotiate

Becoming more physically active is considered to be a challenging behaviour to change and then maintain. 

When people start changing their behaviour, they will often cycle through stages as they achieve different levels of success and failure. This can be frustrating for the person wanting to make a change in their life. It can feel like ‘one step forward and two steps back’.
