Coaching Bootroom: John Griffiths

John Griffiths, Head Coach of England Women’s U17s football team shares some insights into his approach to coaching. He walks us through his journey as coach, his coaching philosophy and how its evolved, along with who has significantly influenced him.

UK Coaching was formerly known as Sports Coach UK. We changed our name after expanding our support as an organisation. We’re now taking it wider than traditional sports because great coaching goes much, much further.

Listen out for how:

  • John’s experience with FC Barcelona has left a lasting mark on him and his philosophy, his approach to coaching, culture and player development.
  • he endeavours to create learning environments by knowing his players, individualising his coaching and prioritising problem solving.
  • he embraces failure and mistakes as the most important route to improving your coaching and your team’s performance.
