Detecting and Understanding Disordered Eating

A series of videos featuring presenters at the 2020 UK Coaching Applied Research Conference. Dr Carolyn Plateau, from Loughborough University, discusses her research into eating attitudes and behaviours in athletes

With disordered eating being relatively common among athletes, Carolyn explains the reasons for this, and what coaches can do to help.

“I’m really interested in understanding the risk factors for disordered eating in athlete populations, but also in identifying ways of working with people who support athletes.

“It’s something that coaches need to be aware of and mindful of looking out for in their athletes – arming themselves with knowledge of the signs and symptoms."
