Menopause happens to every woman defined as being over 50 years of age and who hasn’t had a period for a year or who is over 45 years of age and hasn’t had a period for two years. There are medical and surgical reasons for individuals to also have the menopause.
Most commonly, people go through menopause from their mid-40s through to their mid-50s. The symptoms can last anywhere from one year to ten years.
