Women in High-Performance Coaching Programme

Empowering Female Coaches for High-Performance Success.

This programme is aimed at coaches who have been identified as high-performance coaches with potential to work in a World Class Programme or play a key role in supporting athletes transition into a World Class Programme in 2-4 years.

We will work with sports to provide a blend of coaching experiences and coach developer support.

The purpose of the programme is to support women coaches to gain meaningful coaching experiences that will support their progression along their sport performance pathway into a World Class Programme.

The aim is to:

  • Provide opportunities for women coaches to connect and build their network of support
  • Provide opportunities to share experiences and broaden coaching perspectives
  • Develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours for coaching in the high-performance system

Explore more details of the programme below.

The programme is aimed at women coaches who are:

  • working in Olympic and Paralympic sports
  • coaching athletes 2-4 years away from a world class/funded programme
  • committed to their own development and open to the opportunities the programme will present
  • coaching on a regular (weekly / fortnightly) basis

We are committed to diversity and inclusion in coaching and encourage applications from individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Coaches will be nominated by their sport. It is essential that the NGB has considered the career trajectory and succession planning of the coaches they put forward and are able to support them on this programme.

Delivered between September 2026 and March 2027, this programme will start with an in-person workshop, followed by an immersive 1-day experience provided by the sport for the coach, followed by an online review session and monthly communities of practice - all with the support of a coach developer.

From the nominating sport/organisation:

  • Create a long-term development plan with the individual, supporting their progression within the sport performance pathway
  • Provide an appropriate opportunity for the coach to gain new/more experiences
  • Make every effort to ensure the individual can engage fully with all components of the programme
  • Agree responsibility with the individual for the cover of associated travel costs and any accommodation and subsistence expenses

From the Coach:

  • Engage fully with all components of the programme
  • Liaise with your nominating organisation to complete a development plan and organise appropriate opportunities
  • A willingness to allow a coach developer into your coaching environment to support your development
Agree responsibility with the nominating sport/organisation for the cover of associated travel costs and any accommodation and subsistence expenses.

The programme is delivered September 2026 – March 2027.
