Coaches, clubs, organisations and the public all have a role to play in celebrating great coaching and purposeful play. Here’s how you can get involved in UK Coaching Week.
This UK Coaching Week, we’re inviting coaches to #PlayItForward by sharing a game or activity you love using in your sessions.
Choose an activity that works well for you and your participants, then record a short video of yourself:
- Describing the game or activity, or
- Demonstrating it with your participants, with a brief introduction explaining how it works
Once recorded, share your video on social media using the hashtags #PlayItForward and #UKCoachingWeek.
You can also get involved by resharing posts about play, games or activities you love, or content that’s inspired you - simply tag UK Coaching and use #PlayItForward #UKCoachingWeek and add your own reflections to help spread great ideas across the coaching community.
If you’d prefer not to share on social media, you can still take part. Simply email your video or write your activity description to [email protected].
Throughout the week, we’ll be selecting some of the best submissions and collating them into a Playbook, a practical collection of real games and activities used by coaches across the UK. The playbook will be shared at the end of UK Coaching Week with members of The UK Coaching Club.
If you’re not already a member, sign up for free to receive your copy.
The playbook is designed to make it easier for coaches to embed purposeful play into every session, helping make coaching fun and engaging for both coaches and participants. By using the activities shared and building from there, play becomes a natural part of how you coach, every time.
Organisations and clubs play a vital role in creating environments where purposeful play can thrive. This UK Coaching Week, we’re asking you to help enable, encourage and amplify playful coaching across your network.
Support the campaign by encouraging your coaches to take part in #PlayItForward, sharing a game or activity they love using in sessions. Coaches simply need to record a short video describing or demonstrating the activity with their participants, then post it on social media using #PlayItForward and #UKCoachingWeek.
You can also support the campaign by resharing play‑focused content you already have, as well as resharing posts about play, games and activities from your coaches, members and wider network. Tag UK Coaching and use #PlayItForward #UKCoachingWeek to help amplify great ideas and celebrate purposeful play.
To help you promote UK Coaching Week, download the comms pack. The toolkit includes ready‑to‑use content to support promotion across your own channels, making it easier to raise awareness and encourage participation.
You can also get involved by:
- Promoting UK Coaching Week across your channels
- Sharing and resharing examples of playful coaching from within your network
- Spotlighting coaches who are embedding purposeful play in their sessions
- Resharing UK Coaching resources to support coach development
The best coach‑submitted videos will be collated into a Playbook, a practical collection of real games and activities that coaches can use and adapt in their own sessions. The playbook will be shared at the end of UK Coaching Week with members of The UK Coaching Club.
Encourage your coaches to sign up to The UK Coaching Club for free. It will unlock the playbook and help you discover ways to embed purposeful play into every session, supporting fun and meaningful experiences for both coaches and participants.
UK Coaching Week is for everyone who takes part in coaching. You could be a participant, parent, volunteer or supporter.
Get involved by sharing a game or activity you enjoy taking part in during a coaching session. It might be something that makes sessions fun, helps you learn new skills or keeps you coming back each week. Record a short video or post describing or showing the activity, then share it on social media using #PlayItForward and #UKCoachingWeek.
You can also support the campaign by:
- Engaging with campaign content through likes, comments and shares
- Amplifying posts from coaches, clubs and organisations
- Celebrating the activities and coaches that make your coaching experiences positive and enjoyable
By sharing what you enjoy, you’ll help highlight the value of purposeful play and support coaches and organisations to create fun and meaningful coaching sessions for everyone.
