What's included?
Malpractice, Public and Product Liability & Personal Accident Insurance Coverage
Coverage includes £10 million in public and products liability insurance for claims arising from any advice you may provide, and liability for products that you use or sell and £1 million in malpractice professional indemnity insurance for finance losses due to guidance or recommendations.
Personal accident cover - this includes a £50k death and loss of eye(s) or limbs benefit. £50k loss of speech, hearing, and permanent disablement, plus £100 per week for temporary disablement (up to 13 weeks from the 29th day). For members over 75, permanent total disablement is excluded and other benefits are reduced to 10%.
£10 million limit of indemnity
The UK Coaching Fitness Insurance Scheme is on a combined liability basis and is for a £10m limit of indemnity.

24 Hour Legal and Tax Advice
You can call this helpline any time, day or night, for advice on legal or tax matters in the UK. Given in confidence, the advice is free and you pay for just the cost of the call.
Counselling services helpline – confidential service available to help you deal with personal issues such as bereavement, divorce, the threat of violence in the workplace and bullying at work.
Risk solutions helpline – provides advice on safety, fire, security and other issues that can affect your business. This service is available during normal office hours (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).
The policy covers a registered fitness professional to instruct in any area (in the context of exercise and fitness) in which they hold an approved qualification.
This policy will not cover the following unless it is an endorsed programme in the context of exercise and fitness: Sports Coaching, Physiotherapy, Tai Chi, Martial Arts and Boxing. Please read the Statement of Facts for more information.
FAQ's
The policy covers a registered fitness professional to instruct in any area (in the context of exercise and fitness) in which they hold an approved qualification. The sports massage liability insurance is available to individuals who have additional, approved, certified massage qualifications. This insurance is for massage being applied as part of instructing/training programmes only.
The policy will cover a registered health and fitness professional to instruct in any area in which they hold an endorsed piece of training – as long as it is in the context of exercise and fitness. Cover for undertaking of all manner of additional coaching, including running clubs, water sports, climbing, etc. can be arranged directly through UK Coaching insurers: [email protected] / 0845 366 6666.

You can coach remotely, including hosting live workouts or uploading pre-recorded instructional videos, on the basis that:
- you are suitably qualified to coach the activity
- the activity can be performed in someone’s home, fitness facility or environment safely
- you ask participants to check their surroundings are clear and to keep any distractions, such as pets, away during the live session
- you specify at the start of any live session that your coaching is a means of general guidance and motivation. It is the participant's responsibility to be aware of their own capabilities and do what they are comfortable with. Medical advice should be sought if there is any doubt
- you remind participants to stay hydrated
- you're mindful of using copyrighted music/material.
In regards to uploads of your own pre-recorded instructional videos and training material, your insurance provides cover for injury claims resulting from someone doing the exercise and also financial claims arising from breach of copyright and professional indemnity type risks.
If you are coaching vulnerable adults or anyone under 18, then there are potential safeguarding points you will need to consider:
- Gain written consent from their parents/guardians. Explain the purpose of the training, when it will be done and on what platform, etc
- Use an online-sharing platform to avoid needing any of your participants' contact details (other than their parents'/guardians'), and only use it for the purpose of the training
- Do not make contact with your participants outside of your coaching sessions unless you have explicit parental/guardian consent
- Ensure that you and your participants wear appropriate clothing at all times.

We hope you are happy with your policy. Please read it carefully to see it meets your needs. If not, you may have a right to cancel your insurance. If you do decide to cancel within 14 days, you will be entitled to a full refund. You can cancel at any point in time after 14 days and you will be entitled to a pro rata return of your insurance purchase. The amount that will be refunded can be confirmed on request, before your make your final decision. We will not refund any amount of £10.00 or less. If you have notified a claim under this policy, you will not be entitled to any refund.

Restricted cover applies in respect of legal actions brought in a court of law within the USA or Canada.
