We support apprenticeship programmes across the sport, physical activity, equine, health and leisure sectors, ensuring assessment decisions are fair, rigorous and aligned with real industry expectations.

A Recognised Assessment Organisation You Can Trust

1st4sport is an approved Apprenticeship Assessment Organisation, delivering specialist assessment services across seven occupational standards:

We work closely with employers and those involved in delivering apprenticeships to make sure assessment works in practice, not just on paper. We help ensure assessment decisions reflect genuine occupational competence by connecting programmes to how roles operate in real workplaces.

Team building strength together

This approach gives everyone involved confidence in the outcome. Employers can trust that standards have been met, providers know assessment has been applied fairly and consistently, and apprentices leave with recognition that is meaningful and respected across the sector.

Who Our Apprenticeship Assessment Services Are For

Our independent assessment services support organisations involved in the delivery of apprenticeships across sport, physical activity, equine and health and leisure sectors.

We work with:

    • Employers seeking confidence that apprentices are occupationally competent
    • Training providers delivering apprenticeship programmes
    • Further and higher education institutions supporting apprenticeship delivery
    • Sector bodies and professional organisations involved in workforce quality and standards

Our role is independent of training delivery, providing impartial assessment that all parties can trust.

Industry specialists with sector expertise

We specialise exclusively in the sport and physical activity workforce, giving us a deep understanding of the environments, roles and pressures involved in apprenticeship delivery.

Our assessments are delivered by experienced, suitably qualified industry assessors located across England, ensuring:

  • Real‑world occupational insight
  • Consistent application of standards
  • Decisions that reflect current best practice

We combine expert judgement with strong sector partnerships to ensure all supporting resources remain relevant, fit for purpose and continuously reviewed.

Fair, equitable and independent assessment

Independence and integrity are fundamental to how we assess apprentices.

Our assessment activity is governed by robust quality assurance processes, with clear controls in place to manage malpractice and conflicts of interest. This ensures assessment decisions are consistent and made solely on evidence of objective occupational competence.

This approach reduces risk and increases confidence at the point assessment matters most for employers and providers. Decisions are transparent, defensible and aligned with regulatory requirements, supporting trust in outcomes and protecting the credibility of apprenticeship programmes.

All assessment activity is fully compliant with regulatory standards and quality‑assured by the appropriate authority.

How we protect fairness and confidence

To maintain the highest standards of integrity, we:

    • Review representative samples of assessment evidence to assure fairness and consistency
    • Require all conflicts of interest to be declared and effectively managed
    • Apply clear operating rules to prevent malpractice, maladministration or bias
    • Implement corrective action procedures where policy breaches occur
    • Champion equality, inclusion and diversity across all assessment activity

Delivering confidence when it matters most

End‑point assessment is where you see whether training has genuinely prepared an apprentice for their role. It’s the moment competence is tested, confirmed and recognised.

We help you deliver that moment with confidence. Through independent, sector‑informed assessment, we provide outcomes you can trust. They’re outcomes that stand up to scrutiny, carry weight with employers and providers, and support long‑term workforce quality across the sector.

Who We’ve Helped With Apprenticeship Assessments

The 1st4sport team were very helpful and collaborative in terms of the end‑point assessment and understood the complexities of a commercial business. 1st4sport took all those challenges on board.

1st4sport does not deliver apprenticeship training. Our independence is protected through robust governance structures, conflict‑of‑interest controls and quality assurance processes, ensuring all assessment decisions are objective and impartial.

An Apprenticeship Assessment Organisation independently assesses whether an apprentice has met the occupational standard at the end of their apprenticeship. This confirms competence and ensures outcomes are consistent, credible and recognised across the sector.

End‑point assessment is arranged by the training provider in partnership with the employer, using an approved Assessment Organisation. We work closely with both parties to ensure assessment is planned and delivered in line with regulatory requirements.

A specialist assessment organisation brings deep understanding of occupational practice. Our assessors’ sector expertise ensures assessment decisions reflect real‑world performance and are valued by employers and the workforce.
