Developing Your Coaching Practice

In This Module Your Learners Will:
- gain the knowledge and skills required to plan, adapt and deliver safe and effective coaching sessions, as well as the capacity to explain the rationale for decisions
learn how to regularly review and evaluate coaching programmes in order to make improvements.
What's Included?
The module consists of four components:
1. Foundations of Coaching
Your learners will:
- reflect on how different types of knowledge influence their development as a coach
- gain an understanding of how to use different learning approaches in coaching and be able to confidently apply them
- discover the advantages of using a holistic coaching approach to cultivate and sustain the empowering learning environment.
2. Planning
Your learners will:
- be able to design and implement effective short-term, medium-term and long-term coaching plans that meet the individual needs of the learners, teams or athletes
- feel comfortable with incorporating different coaching styles and types of practice into their sessions, having gained the knowledge and skills required to ensure the most effective and enjoyable learning experience
- be able to create developmentally appropriate coaching practices that leverage the full range of abilities of all learners, helping them progress towards their goals.
3. Coaching
Your learners will:
- gain a deep insight into, and learn how to apply, the various behaviours that coaches use to improve performance, such as asking questions, giving feedback, observing and demonstrating how to do something
- explore how to create a coaching approach that places the individual at the centre of the process, adapting and progressing coaching practices to meet the needs of their participants to make learning more memorable and provide a great coaching experience.
4. Reflection
Your learners will:
- gain the ability to reflect on their coaching sessions with confidence, which will motivate them to act and enable them to make improvements
- learn to reflect on and review their actions with the rest of their coaching team and the people they coach
- be equipped with the knowledge, guidance, and tools necessary to review people's development needs and assist them in creating individual development plans that integrate into their practice.
An interactive test that prepares and primes your learners for the work involved in completing the module. This gives them the chance to test their existing knowledge and obtain an insight of their strengths and areas where they may improve their knowledge and skills.
Depending on the component, one or two engaging and interactive course(s) will provide your learners with essential knowledge about the topic, utilising scenarios to help them put what they have learned into practice.
Depending on the component, one or two workshops or online classrooms delivered by our expert tutors to build on and deepen the understanding that your learners have gained through the eLearning, giving them the opportunity to reflect on and share their experiences with other coaches.
An interactive ePortfolio that enables your learners to easily demonstrate their proficiency by completing the tasks, writing reflections, and keeping a journal with all the details of their experiences and learning for each module in one location. This makes it convenient for them to refer to throughout the programme and beyond, encouraging life-long learning.

- Foundations of Coaching – A comprehensive dive into coaching essentials, from emotion-driven strategies and diverse learning styles to holistic development approaches.
- Planning – A strategic approach to crafting developmentally attuned activities, encompassing progression, regression, and tailored planning timelines, underpinned by best practices and varied performance techniques.
- Coaching – A holistic exploration of coaching styles, participant-centric methods, games-based techniques, and mastering the art of engagement and skill development.
- Reflection – A deep dive into the essence of reflection, mastering the methodologies, and discerning the pivotal areas of focus.
What Do Your Learners Get on Completion?
On successfully completing the module, your learners will be issued a UK Coaching Certificate for both the eLearning and face-to-face workshop or online classroom. If you choose to offer this module as part of a qualification, these certificates will be your learners' evidence of prior learning.
