Overview
The 1st4sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Assistant (Multi Skills) offers an entry point to coaching for anyone with a passion for this industry.
Your learners will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to be able to assist the delivery of multi skills coaching sessions - with the supervision of a more qualified coach.
Developing their knowledge in this area, your learners will consider the theory and practice behind delivering and evaluating coaching activities in multi skills.
This qualification is recognised as the industry standard Level 1 qualification for coaching assistants by UK Coaching.
It is aligned to the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) professional standard for Coaching Assistant.
The qualification is designed for those who wish to become involved in coaching at an assistant level, and to have responsibility for the delivery of coaching activities under the appropriate supervision of a more qualified coach. It is an entry point to coaching, depending on the ability and confidence of the learner. It is directed at learners who have an interest in multi skills.
Prior to registration, you must:
- be accurately identified (this involves providing some identifying information about yourself, such as your passport or driving licence, so that the recognised centre can verify that you are the person who has registered for the qualification)
- be at least 14 years of age
- be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing). If you have any additional support requirements to help you through this qualification, please speak to the Recognised Centre* delivering your course.
*A recognised centre is an organisation who is accredited by 1st4sport to deliver qualifications.
To obtain the qualification, you must attend your training and have assessed evidence or demonstrated:
- An understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a coaching assistant
- Being able to prepare the coaching environment
- Being able to assist with the delivery of coaching sessions
- Being able to assist with the review of coaching sessions
- Knowledge of how to support fundamental movement skills
To obtain the qualification, you must successfully complete all mandatory components.
This will involve creating a portfolio of evidence and through practical demonstrations / assignments.
