Prepares learners to plan activities that are appropriate for local communities and the needs of youth at risk

Overview

 

With this qualification, your learners will gain the knowledge and skills to plan and develop activities suitable for local communities and to engage with and meet the needs of youths at risk within those communities.

It is ideal for anyone interested in supporting the delivery of activities led by more qualified personnel, such as coaches, instructors, or activity leaders.

 

This qualification is designed for those who wish to become involved in youth and community work, either whilst completing secondary school or in support of larger roles, such as paid or voluntary positions which require engagement with youth in the wider community.

Prior to registration, you must:

  • be accurately identified (this involves providing some identifying information about yourself, such as your passport or driving licence, so that the recognised centre can verify that you are the person who has registered for the qualification)
  • be at least 14 years of age
  • be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing). If you have any additional support requirements to help you through this qualification, please speak to the Recognised Centre* delivering your course.

*A recognised centre is an organisation who is accredited by 1st4sport to deliver qualifications.

To obtain the qualification, you must attend your training and have assessed evidence or demonstrated:

  • An understanding of the benefits of community-focussed activities
  • An understanding of how partners can contribute to community-focussed activities
  • An understanding of how to support individuals participating in community-focussed activities

To obtain the qualification, you must successfully complete all mandatory components.

This will involve creating a portfolio of evidence and through practical demonstrations / assignments.
