Overview

 

The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Multi-Skills Development in Sport qualifies your learners to work as independent multi-skills development coaches in sport and physical activity.

Through the planning, delivery and review of a series of linked and progressive coaching sessions, they will gain an indispensable understanding of and the skills to apply the principles of fundamental movement skills and fundamental sports skills to their sessions, essential to supporting people to develop sustainable active habits and achieve their goals.

If your learners are ready to take on responsibility for the ongoing development of participants of various ages in this area, or if they work in Physical Education and School Sport across the curriculum, this qualification is a great next step.

 

The qualification is designed for those who wish to become involved in delivering multi-skills as an independent coach, and wish to take responsibility for the ongoing development of participants at a variety of ages in this area. Individuals operating within Physical Education and School Sport across the curriculum may wish to undertake this qualification.

Prior to registration, you must:

  • be accurately identified (this involves providing some identifying information about yourself, such as your passport or driving licence, so that the recognised centre can verify that you are the person who has registered for the qualification)
  • be at least 16 years of age
  • be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing). If you have any additional support requirements to help you through this qualification, please speak to the Recognised Centre* delivering your course.

*A recognised centre is an organisation who is accredited by 1st4sport to deliver qualifications.

To obtain the qualification, you must attend your training and have assessed evidence or demonstrated:

  • An ability to plan and review a series of sessions designed to develop fundamental movement and skills
  • An understanding of technical coaching requirements for multi-skills 
  • The knowledge of how to support fundamental movement skills
  • An understanding of the role and responsibilities of a coach
  • An understanding of participant development needs 

To obtain the qualification, you must successfully complete all mandatory components.
