Overview
Sports events, whether informal local games or major international tournaments, should be fun and enjoyable for children and young people.
Developed by specialists in the field, this course covers everything you need to consider when safeguarding and child protection for sports events – including venues, activity providers, transport, staffing, first aid, inclusivity, partner organisations and evaluating other safeguarding risks (such as during downtime or overnight stays).

You'll learn from experts and professionals who specialise in safeguarding in sport through teaching pages, videos, reflective activities and quizzes.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- understand the principles of planning and delivering a safe event and key aspects of safeguarding and child protection
- assign event safeguarding child protection roles and responsibilities
- prepare and plan practice considerations and recognise activities that may present additional challenges and risks
- recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns
- share good practice examples and tried and tested ways of fulfilling safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.

These courses are for anyone who has responsibility for the safeguarding and child protection element of events, including those from education establishments, national governing bodies, active partnerships, leisure facilities, charities, clubs, coaches and other activity organisers.
