Equality in Sport and Physical Activity (Online Classroom)

Sport and physical activity should be enjoyed by everyone. Learn how to create equal opportunities and experiences for all.

Have you ever stopped to consider how equitable your coaching practice really is: Can you make changes to the environment in which it is delivered? Do some of your participants have more influence than others? Are you welcoming to as broad a population in your local community as you could be?

This interactive online classroom will help you to connect, challenge (yourself and others) and hopefully help you change some of your practice to be more equitable in your coaching – reflecting on your current practice, as well as implementing immediate and long-term changes to reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity.

By the end, you will have a greater awareness of how you can deliver any sport or physical activity session, more confidently and effectively on a regular basis – to participants of all ages who are from diverse backgrounds. It will help you make small changes for improvement that will have a big impact on your sessions, your club and the lives of those you coach.

  • Connect: Understand what equality is and why we need it
  • Challenge: Develop ourselves and those around us to be more equitable
  • Change: Explore the 'What next?'

The course has been awarded 2 CPD points by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

This online classroom will:

  • assist you in determining whether your current practice is equitable
  • help you adapt your skills to make your coaching sessions more inclusive and attractive to everyone
  • provide you with a better understanding of current practice in terms of equality, as well as strategies for reducing inequalities in your club, sport, or physical activity
  • help you better communicate with your participants by learning the importance of using correct language and terminologies
  • educate you how to create new opportunities for your participants, club, and local communities
  • help you learn how to challenge, connect and change by exploring your own knowledge and experiences
  • support the development of more inclusive policies and practices with the potential to demonstrate a positive impact on society and club sustainability.

You can access the online classroom through your mobile phone, tablet, PC or laptop. For the best experience, we recommend using a desktop PC.

You will need the following equipment:

  • Headset or a device with speakers
  • Device with a microphone
  • Ability to connect directly into your router (wifi access may drop out).

More information will be provided when you register.

Find a course date that works for you and book on.

We will be in touch to:

  1. Confirm your booking
  2. Send you a link to your session
  3. Tell you your certificate is ready to view on your dashboard (after your session).

This session will run for around 90 minutes to 2 hours. It depends on the flow of the session – we don’t like to cut people off while they are learning!

You are part of a small group so you will have a chance to discuss points and ask questions – as if you are in a face to face workshop, only you get to sit in your own chair and drink a real cuppa in your own mug and not something brown from a vending machine!
