UK Coaching Workshops Help Active Sussex Build a Stronger Workforce
Article Active Sussex has strengthened workforce capacity by becoming a UK Coaching Licensed Workshop Partner, delivering accessible, accredited learning across Sussex. Led by experienced tutor Lauren Rickson, the partnership supports safer, more inclusive sporting environments for clubs, schools and community groups.
As part of its ongoing commitment to developing a skilled, diverse, and inclusive sport and physical activity workforce, Active Sussex has become a UK Coaching Licensed Workshop Partner. This collaboration strengthens Active Sussex’s Place Universal Offer application to Sport England and enhances local delivery of high quality learning through UK Coaching and Buddle workshops.
Impact and Delivery
Through this partnership, Active Sussex can now deliver accredited training locally, increasing accessibility and building both capacity and capability among paid staff and volunteers. This directly supports grassroots clubs, schools, and community groups across Sussex to create safer, more inclusive and future-ready environments.
A key element of this initiative is the up-skilling of Sport Welfare Officer Lauren Rickson, as a qualified Buddle tutor.
Lauren brings over 18 years of experience in coaching and sports development, and leads on Workforce Development and Safeguarding Implementation at Active Sussex. Her new role as a tutor expands the organisation’s reach, offering targeted workshops on developing inclusive environments, volunteer management, future planning, and positive experiences in sport.
